The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators is the debut studio album by the 13th Floor Elevators. The album's sound, featuring elements of psychedelia, garage rock, folk, and blues, is notable for its use of the electric jug, as featured on the band's only hit, You're Gonna Miss Me, which reached number 55 on the Billboard Charts with Tried to Hide as a B-side. Another single from the album, Reverberation Doubt, reached number 129 on the Billboard's Bubbling Under Chart. Their lyrics and sleeve notes openly and religiously endorsed the use of drugs particularly LSD to alter human consciousness for the better. The band rattled to the middle of the Hot 100 in 1966 with You're Gonna Miss Me, anchored by Roky Erickson's unforgettable yelping vocals, Stacy Sutherland's guitar, and Tommy Hall's electric jug runs. According to myth, Tommy's jug was tuned by the amount of marijuana stored in it. Th read more. This pressing sounds sluggish or slower than it should be and the sound quality is terrible.
Lynnak
I seem to have this version but it is on thick, old-style vinyl with marks and wear to match an older pressing. it seems very unlikely my copy was pressed in 2012. Was an earlier version released with these labels and matrix numbers? Please say yes.
Yellow Judge
No, my copy doesn't have the plain white back cover. I will keep researching it. Thank you for the reply.
Frostdefender
Maybe you have this one? The matrix numbers look similar: https://www.discogs.com/The-13th-Floor-Elevators-The-Psychedelic-Sounds-Of-The-13th-Floor-Elevators/release/4643057
Jerinovir
My copy plays slowly. It's not noticeable, but each track is a few seconds too long and the album runs about a minute longer than it should overall.
Mogelv
sounds like crap :(
Oreavi
Sounds awful. Tiring to listen to. Not worth the mp3.
Chuynopana
That's not how they sound like. I even have a CD that sounds a lot better. Here I get constant crackle on right channel and plenty of vocal distortion in comparison. Today's reissues are a fkin hell to navigate. Buying new is taking a bigger chance than buying used pre-digital versions.
