Sax Ruins are, as their name suggests, a variation on the Ruins organization, and feature saxophonistflutist Ono Ryoko alongside Tatsuya. While a sax-and-drums orchestration might suggest a certain sonic and textural minimalism, banish such thoughts immediately: in the studio, Sax Ruins are - there's no other accurate term for it - a big band, with Tatsuya writing unbelievably complex and dense compositions that Ryoko plays on multiple instruments in overdubbed parts. Sax Ruins - Yawiquo review: The latest incarnation of Ruins isn't nearly as good as its predecessor. Sax Ruins is a fairly ingenious moniker indicating an accretion by way of Ono Ryoko's alto sax and flute to Yoshida Tatsuya's already chaotic punk come choose your own genre adventure. The statement of a true percussive virtuoso, Ruins has always been a wildly experimental affair - ranging from prog and punk in every flavor, to free jazz, and encompassing Japan's burgeoning noise scene - Tatsuya's brainchild satiates the most ADD appetite. Drum : Yoshida TATSUYA Alto Sax : Ono is a Japanese music duo composed only of drummervocalist Tatsuya Yoshida and a bass guitarist there have been four such bassists in the band's history. The group, formed in 1985, was supposedly intended to be a power trio the guitarist, however, never showed up to the band's first rehearsal so the group remained a duo. Ruins have collaborated with several other musicians, including prominent avant-garde figure Derek Bailey, auteur guitaristmulti-instrumentalist Keiji Haino, and Ground Zero alumnus Kazuhisa Uchihashi.
