Tracks 1-1, 1-3, 2-3, 2-10 and 4-3 are credited as 12" versions, released as 12" singles, but are the same as the corresponding album versions.
Track 1-5 correct title is 'Loco In Acapulco (Ph Balance Mix - Full Version)'
Track 2-3 actually lasts about 25 seconds longer than the album version
Track 2-9 has a melodic "skid" in the beginning, probably due from the tape being cued up too early to the song start
Track 3-5 is the new 12" mix released in 1988
Track 4-2 is the 'New Version' released in 1987
Track 4-3 is the album version, but faded out a little earlier and it has the acapella from the ending of the UK 12" version added to its final minute
Track 4-4 seems to be 1m15s longer than the 12" version
Track 4-5 correct title is 'Long 'Dutch Mix''. Track is missing most of the first bar
Track 4-8 is actually the album version

Fantastic music Serge Ponsar it's a French singer and produced very nice Funk music
Not *that* bad!I have to say I listened to the discs in the order 4,3,2,1. So yes, I was heavily disappointed when I heard the ear-aching version of "Nice and slow" included here. I was looking forward to hear the original 1976 12 inch in its full master glory as I'm used to from Ben Liebrand, because the 5:28 version from Disky's 70s Maximum vol. 2 was a vinyl rip and the 5:50 version on Jesse Green's Unidisc comp was a remix (albeit with the original 70s sounds). I could have sent him that latter version... now I'm feeling guilty not having done so...:(Same story for "Native New Yorker", my 5:37 version on The Best Of 12 Inch Gold 19 sounds rather tinny, so I was hoping to get it here in better quality... but I end up with a modern remix... knowing it is an RCA track so it should be in the Sony vaults..."Just be good": the track runs slower over time (compare first bars with the last ones). Not sure if this was an error but it just bugs me the same way as did Dayton's "The sound of music" (which was corrected by Ben). Too bad, still no master quality release of the "vocal long version" running 10:18...?Nu Shooz: somehow, the first bar is missing...?We get the Blank & Jones reconstruction of "Duel". I still prefer the original "Bittersweet" version but I guess the version included here was the version Ben wanted to make in those days... too bad, Ben did not have the equipment then that B&J is having now.Club Nouveau is one of those cases in which I prefer the album version to the remix.Nightlife Unlimited DF&B: I knew the track from the Casablanca 4CD box. I like the version there better than this one, but nevertheless it's good to have both versions now.Sister Sledge "All American Girls": we get a longer version than the originally released one, with a clean fade. Donna Summer "Walk Away" also runs longer than the released 12" version. So yes, there are also positive notes on this compilation. The tracks by Leroy Burgess, Crown Heights Affair, Steven & Sterling, Heatwave and Serge Ponsar were not in my collection yet. And others were around but not in the quality presented here.I agree that the number of worthwhile tracks is getting lower each volume, but I think we should not blame just Ben for that. Sure, I could list 40-45 titles that should belong on G12-15 and someone else request even 40-45 more for G12-16. And I think Ben loves to make these tracks available as much as we do. But Ben can only include what the record companies are willing to license to him. And in many cases, the material the record companies are passing him is not to Ben's quality standards. Of course, Ben could revert to vinyl if the master is missing, but that should be the exception instead of the rule. Meanwhile, we all (including Ben) are facing the following developments:- other record companies offering similar compilations for lower prices- more and more people preferring titles (filling gaps) to quality (replacing bad versions with good ones)- record companies less and less willing to license tracks because they fear they cannot make any profit out of it- masters that are wearing out because of age- people less and less willing to buy CDs because they prefer digital downloads and/or streaming- people less and less willing to pay a fair price for musicSo circumstances to release a volume of G12 are pretty hard. I think we should be thankful to people like Ben who are willing to continue this journey. Even if this means that an inevitable error may occur.
Also, with regards to the first bar missing, Ben used the version released on this 1987 CD comp direct from Atlantic to put on this volume of Grand 12 Inches. It's the best sounding one available but unfortunately does have those first few seconds missing for some reason.
Great review!About the Nu Shooz track...what you're hearing is the best available sound quality for that version unfortunately. Peter Slaghuis made this mix using material that had already been put through multiple analog transfers, and the result is lower quality audio. From what John Smith claims, the original was recorded on 2" 16 track tape, mixed to 30ips 1/2" tape, transferred to vinyl, recorded BACK to 1/2" tape while Peter played along to it, then back to vinyl again. If you wanted to hear the way the song sounded in its *original* 12" form, try to hunt down a copy of the version that DJ remix service Hot Tracks released on this issue, then again on this 'best of' issue. The sound quality on that one is fantastic. Nu Shooz were unheard of when this came out and the appearance of this song on Hot Tracks was a first generation mixdown from the master tapes, and Hot Tracks included it on an issue to help promote it. *THIS* was the version Peter Slaghuis used to create his Long Dutch Mix.

When Grand 12-Inches first appeared it was a good idea. Now the series is tired and not well put together. I stopped collecting on volume 10 because of the mastering faults and that there was no re-press done for what is effectively a faulty product with all the nasty digital clicks. I keep looking at the track lists for newer volumes and they are getting worse and worse, so I would have stopped at volume 10 anyway most likely. I think Ben Liebrand has lost his way and doesn't really have a good connection to what the public want. Also, he keeps talking about getting the best sounding masters, but then he is on Facebook asking people to send him .wav files. So these are not coming from master tapes any more. The other thing is that the series is called Grand 12-Inches, yet he increasingly includes tracks that aren't the original 12 inch mixes. We instead get album versions, updated remixes etc. Such a shame.

Totally agree with previous comments... Some tracks don't belongs to this compilation, first, 3-2 Propaganda - Duel, Reconstruction, what?!? "Bitter sweet" is much, much better and well known either. Also, it is not a Disco classic, Camouflage too... 1-5 The Four Tops - Loco in Acapulco... 4-2 Jesse Green - Nice and slow, is not Original, from 1976, but some weak version, from 1987?
To be honest this is an edition with the least impressive tracktitles of them all. If you have to use also vinyl more and more because you run out of ideas or the well is drying up, why not go for: Playback-Space Invaders, Shock- Angel face, The Amazing Bingo Band- Power Music, Giorgio Farina- Farina's Suite, Disco Dream And The Androids- Dream Machine, Denise McCann- I Have A Destiny, Kikrokos- Life Is A Jungle, Foxy- Party boys (Disconet edit), Nancy martin- Can't Believe. Look them up on Youtube and you must agree these are the real (disco)classics!!
not a good tracklist.everything has been released before on cd.
